The IQAC mandated best practices
- Inititation of Peer Consultant Programme
The Institution has adopted the process of imparting learning through the participation of students by changing the eco-system of teaching learning process at micro level. By which, the students are identified and categorized based on their learning skills. The group of students who perceived to be slow in learning is assigned under the care of quick learners by nominating them as ‘peer consultant’ rather as group leader to inculcate fellow feeling and cohesiveness. In turn, the Peer consultant is in constant communication with the teachers to take inputs on the kind of approach to be sharpened, redesigned to reap the better results from their peer learners.
The unstructured, informal functioning of this group helped to get over the anxiety of students who trailing behind in academics and enable them to get on with other in studies. The HoD’s of respective departments are given freedom to adopt this method and even redesign based on the requirements of their wards. The feedback generated from this exercise is found to be satisfactory and the academic targets are achieved by way of improvement in their learning skills. The IQAC of the Institution is conceptualizing this sort of measures given the unique demographic feature of this Institution.
- Promotion of reading habit
The Institution is quite conscious of its role in shaping the physical and mental well being of students besides academics. To achieve this, weaning students from excessive digital influence is very important. Towards this end, the Institution encourages students to take to reading in physical means through books and journals.
The IQAC has mandated that every department must identify a faculty who is inclined to teach/discuss worldly developments in their domain by adopting an approach which involves interspersing the regular teaching programme with news paper or journals reading, in the classrooms to grab the attention of students. The impromptu gesture of this sort, by the teacher is tend to evoke the curiosity of students on a subject which seem to be drifting away from the subject but essentially meant to take hold of students interest on a subject centric news item, which is otherwise not in their area of knowing, from their accessibility, point of view.
The ostensible purpose of this measure is, to break the monotony and divert the attention of students towards things of academic interest of different genre. The materials used in this regard are
- Newspapers-Predominantly
- Magazines featuring academic content
- Sharing the communication or speeches of potential job creators/providers
- The qualitative improvement in the grasping skills of students are the testimony to the outcomes these measures.
