Our dynamic Principal Dr. N.M.I. Alhaji, steers the institution towards new horizon of excellence.
Our Vision is to inculcate religious and moral values in students and to impart training to them so as to have an all-round development of their personality.
Just as Rajaraja Chola is regarded as an enduring symbol of the fertile Thanjavur district, Founder philanthropist Haji Khadir Mohideen Maraikayar stands as a defining figure of Adirampattinam. During the early 1900s, when India was under colonial rule, he established a charitable institution known as Madrasathul Salahi Fi Adrabil Falahi with the noble objectives of imparting Islamic religious education and supporting local mosques through charitable activities such as providing oil for lamps. This institution has evolved over time into what is today known as the M.K.N. Madharasa Trust.
The M.K.N. Madharasa Trust, founded by Haji Khadir Mohideen Maraikayar, is an Islamic religious and charitable trust. In the years 1900 and 1901, more than 1,500 acres of his personal properties were dedicated as Waqf through registered deeds. These properties were situated in Adirampattinam, Pattukkottai, Eripurakkarai, Sendakkottai, Sellathur, Maliyakkadu, Keezhaperumalai, Pazhanjur, Thamarankottai, and Mazhavenirkadu. The deeds also laid down the principles and procedures for the administration of the Trust.
The Trust was initially administered by a board of trustees comprising the founder, Haji Khadir Mohideen Maraikayar; his brothers Haji Ahamed Thambi Maraikayar, Haji Sheikh Salath Labbai Maraikayar and Late. Naina Mohamed Lebbai Maraikayar’s son Janab. M.K.N. Mohamed Mohideen Maraikayar. According to the Trust regulations, the Board of Trustees may consist of six male descendants from the founder’s family and three non-hereditary eminent individuals who are known for their social standing and commitment to charitable service.
The revenue generated from the properties endowed under the M.K.N. Madharasa Trust is utilized to provide religious education to Muslim children through the Salahiya Madharasa, including knowledge in Arabic and Islamic studies. In addition, the Trust operates schools and colleges that offer modern education in Tamil, Urdu, and English, thereby promoting learning among both Muslims and people of other faiths. These institutions were established for the welfare of society as a whole, without any discrimination based on caste or religion.
The M.K.N. Madharasa Trust established by the philanthropist Haji Khadir Mohideen Maraikayar is dedicated for charitable purpose and with the income generated by the waqf properties, Salahiya Arabic College, Khadir Mohideen Boys' Higher Secondary School, Khadir Mohideen Girls' Higher Secondary School were established. These institutions have become landmarks of education and beacons of knowledge in the Thanjavur region.
One of the distinguishing features of this Trust is that thousands of students who have studied in its madharasa, schools, and college have gone on to excel as eminent religious scholars, educational experts, political leaders, and officers in the legal and administrative services.
In the early 1900s, it required not only courage but also remarkable foresight for the founder, the philanthropist Haji Khadir Mohideen Maraikayar, to dedicate his family properties and establish a charitable trust in a small rural town. His vision and commitment continue to be worthy of admiration.
Had these schools and colleges not been established under the Trust, a vast majority of the people in this region would not have had access to education. The founder, Haji Khadir Mohideen Maraikayar, made it possible for the people of this area to acquire both religious and modern education and later extended educational opportunities to women as well.
Today, this charitable Trust continues to uphold and realize the dreams of its founders under the stewardship of Haji. Janab. S. Mohammed Meerasahib, a direct descendant of the founder, Haji Khadir Mohideen Maraikayar, who serves as the present Secretary of the Trust. Through his dedicated leadership, the Trust and its institutions continue to advance the noble vision and charitable mission envisaged by their founder.
